Programs

Are there any prerequisites for the programs?
Participants of Executive Programs at UC Berkeley are typically executives or on the fast track to the executive level with relevant experience.  Participants in the Berkeley Executive Leadership Series must have a minimum of seven years of managerial experience. However, each application is assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Are there any pre-readings or case studies sent out to participants before the programs start?
Depending on the program there may be some pre-readings and/or case studies to be completed prior to the start date.

Will I receive college credit for this program?
Program participants do not receive college credit. For most programs, you will earn a certificate of completion.

When do classes begin and end?
Typically, classes begin between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. You will have morning and afternoon breaks as well as longer lunch breaks. Please refer to the program itinerary for specific information.

What is the typical attire during a program?
"Business casual" is customary during the programs. Dress code is always informal after class and for dinner, unless otherwise announced. For dining out on Saturday or Sunday evenings, you may wish to bring a jacket and tie for men and similarly appropriate attire for women as some restaurants have a dress code.

Are meals included in the cost of the program?
Meals and refreshments are typically included throughout the day. Please refer to the specific program itinerary to view break schedules and information. For meals that are not included, there are local restaurants and cafes within walking distance.

 

Getting Here

Where are classes held?
Unless stated otherwise, classes are held at the Haas School of Business at 2220 Piedmont Avenue on the UC Berkeley Campus.

How do I find directions to the school?
You will receive materials from your Program Manager welcoming you. This will also provide you with all the information you need for a smooth arrival to your program. Your Program Manager will be able to help you with any additional questions.

Traveling from Abroad

Do you assist in getting visas and other immigration paperwork?
Participants in our courses are not matriculated and therefore do not receive academic credit.  Unfortunately, we do not provide assistance in obtaining visas or other immigration paperwork.  You can visit the U.S. Department of State’s website for more information on how to obtain a visa.

 

Weather

Berkeley has a moderate climate. During the summer, the median daytime temperature is 68 degrees Fahrenheit. However, cool winds from the San Francisco Bay sweep in at night, making it advisable to bring clothing that you can layer.

September is the warmest month of the year with an average maximum temperature of about 70 degrees Fahrenheit, while the coldest month is January with an average minimum temperature of around 43 degrees Fahrenheit.
