John W. O'Brien

John O'Brien, M.S. (Operations Research) University of California, Los Angeles. Faculty Director Executive Director, Master's in Financial Engineering Program. Managing Director at Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM). Cofounder, Chairman, and CEO of the investment firm Leland O'Brien Rubinstein ("LOR"). Cofounder and original Chairman & CEO Wilshire Associates (originally named O'Brien Associates). Recipient of the 2004 Matthew R. McArthur Award, Investment Management Consultants Association.

Nicolae Garleanu

Nicolae Garleanu is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Haas School of Business. He received B.A. and M.A. degrees in Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D in Finance from the Wharton Graduate School of Business. Before joining Haas, Professor Garleanu taught at INSEAD and at Wharton. Most of his research is in the area of theoretical asset pricing, where he concentrated on liquidity issues and on using economy-wide consumption and investment patterns to explain the main properties of the returns of major asset classes, such as stocks and bonds. His research has been published in journals such as Econometrica, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Review of Financial Studies, as well as the Financial Analysts Journal.

Gregory LaBlanc

Gregory LaBlanc has been a lecturer at UC Berkeley since 2004, teaching courses in Finance, Accounting, Law, and Strategy in the Haas School, the Law School (Boalt Hall) and the department of Economics. Prior to joining the Berkeley faculty, he studied Economics, Business, and Law at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, George Mason University Law School, Duke Law School, and Berkeley Law (Boalt Hall). He has previously taught Finance, Management, Law and Economics at the Wharton School, Duke University and the University of Virginia and has been a consultant in the fields of IP litigation and competitive intelligence. His research focuses on the impact of tax policy on organizational design, capital formation, and innovation. He has received several teaching awards and has previously been involved in executive education programs at the Wharton School and Darden School.

Hayne Leland

Hayne Leland, Arno A. Rayner Professor of Finance and Management and Director of the Berkeley Program in Finance. Ph.D. (mathematical economics), Harvard University. Dynamic investment strategies and portfolio insurance, informational asymmetries, structure, and inter-mediation in financial markets, regulation of insider trading, risky debt valuation. Director and founding principal of the investment firm Leland O'Brien Rubinstein Associates Inc. Past President of the American Finance Association.

Richard H. Stanton

Richard Stanton is Professor at the Haas School of Business. He received his BA and MA in Mathematics from Cambridge University and his Ph.D. in Finance from Stanford University. In 2007 he received the Earl F. Cheit Award for Excellence in Teaching (Undergraduate Program), and is a Barbara and Gerson Bakar Faculty Fellow. His work has been published in Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Econometric, Journal of Real Estate Research, Journal of Finance, Real Estate Economics, Journal of Investment Management, Journal of Financial Economics, and Journal of Finance.
