"Confidence comes from knowing that you have all the tools and skills and that you’ve applied them in the right way, to know that what you are saying in persuasive and when you walk into a room you are going to get the yes."

Dr. Richard Freishtat serves as Vice President of Curriculum at Berkeley Executive Education, where he drives the design and delivery of the range of programs across the Executive Education portfolio – where 120+ programs are delivered to over 5,000 executives each year. In addition to his VP role, he also serves as co-faculty in the Communications Excellence Executive Education program at Berkeley-Haas, and in that area of expertise has individually consulted with over 500 business, medical, and higher education professionals on their presentation, persuasion, and storytelling skills. Whether it’s with faculty, business, or medical professionals, Freishtat's clients consistently report on improved communication outcomes, more receptive audiences, and ability to influence through strategic messaging. His coaching has led clients to job offers, promotions, and increased performance particularly around initiating projects, aligning multiple stakeholders, and ultimately in delivering results - sometimes it's launching a novel idea in a challenging corporate environment, other times it's securing the biggest business-to-business multi-million-dollar sale the company has ever achieved.

Having overcome a stutter and immense fear of speaking in public, he has a particular passion for working with professionals who seek to address some of the same impediments to their success. Freishtat is currently working on a book that will provide high-potential business professionals, who are challenged by similar obstacles, both relevant and easily implemented tools, techniques, and frames of mind for effectively conveying their message to garner intended results.

Dr. Freishtat holds a PhD in Education from Arizona State University, and an M.A. in Rhetoric and Public Address and a B.A. in Speech Communications from Pennsylvania State University. Across his 15+ years of teaching and consulting experience, Freishtat has helped more than 5,000 students at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels in course topics ranging from Oral Communication to Persuasion, and Interpersonal Communication to Small Group Communication. He has also published and presented across the globe on the topics of teaching, pedagogy, and innovation.
