Dr. Robert Strand is Executive Director of the Center for Responsible Business, Executive Director of the Nordic Center at UC Berkeley, and Lecturer at the Berkeley Haas School of Business. He is also Associate Professor at the Copenhagen Business School. His research focuses on the intersection of sustainability and corporate strategy, with an emphasis on identifying sustainability leaders around the world. Robert teaches the suite of courses “Sustainable Capitalism?” which draws on his new book, Nordic Capitalism: Lessons for Realizing Sustainable Capitalism (Cambridge University Press, 2026).

Before joining Berkeley Haas in 2014, Robert was an Assistant Professor at the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, following a decade in corporate America where he held roles in manufacturing, supply chain, marketing, strategy, and investor relations at IBM and Boston Scientific. He holds a Ph.D. in corporate social responsibility from the Copenhagen Business School, an MBA in international business from the University of Minnesota, and a B.S. in industrial engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He was a U.S. Fulbright Scholar to Norway, based at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
