More about this program

In many ways, corporate governance looks different today than in the past. Boards are increasingly called to take a more hands-on approach than their predecessors, respond quickly to social change, tackle substantial cultural shifts, and operate with increasing transparency. Board diversity is also a central focus of modern governance as it has been shown, in many cases, to help boards engage in a more collaborative decision-making process and expand their ability to find new solutions to new and old challenges.

However, there’s more to being a successfully contributing board member than representing a specific title or diverse perspective. Instead, a clear understanding of a board’s responsibilities, common issues, and critical procedures is often required to contribute so that your input is fully heard, valued, and incorporated. The NextGen Directors Program combines this in-depth knowledge into one engaging and practical course.

Enjoy An Illuminating Program Experience

This two-day hybrid board of directors training is taught by practitioners with extensive board experience in a wide variety of public and private companies, and Berkeley faculty who will guide you through a dynamic blend of:

  • topical lectures
  • pragmatic, hands-on exercises
  • exclusive panel discussions with CEOs and other stakeholders

Emerge Ready to Contribute as a Valued Board Member

This transformational corporate governance training will help you understand and refine your own board value propositions, meet with board leaders and executive recruiters to broaden your network, and sharpen your ability to connect with board decision-makers. You’ll also be able to build one-on-one mentoring relationships with existing board leaders.

You’ll leave this program with an in-depth understanding of crucial governance topics and procedures, along with the proficiency to fully and confidently begin to contribute as a board member.
