A recent report by the Boston Consulting Group found that 75 percent of executives regard digital innovation and strategy as more urgent in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizations have realized transformation begins with a robust digital system in place today, making the role of a CDO an important addition to the C-suite. The Berkeley CDO Program is designed to address this imminent need for digital innovation leaders.
The program emphasizes digital innovation and strategy to help participants develop advanced digital acumen and drive digital change, even through crises. Participants will learn to manage the digital innovation ecosystem, design and execute digital strategy, and lead the organization from the C-suite.
This immersive program comprises live sessions with the faculty, delivered primarily via The Forum — Berkeley’s state-of-the-art virtual platform. Participants will experience a simulated, interactive classroom experience and engage in real-time discussions with thought leaders at the forefront of digital innovation and strategy — VCs, startups, labs, and enterprise firms — to learn innovative approaches and practical applications.
One of the biggest advantages of Berkeley is its proximity to the Silicon Valley ecosystem. UC Berkeley offers learners and leaders alike access to the latest business insights and glimpses of emerging technology.
“It has become paramount for organizations to take up a digital-first approach for business growth. As digital strategy takes center stage, businesses will require Chief Digital Officers who can steer them in the right direction for effective enterprise-wide transformation, while being future-ready for upcoming digital advancements. Berkeley Executive Education’s Chief Digital Officer Program will equip participants with the knowledge essential for the new business landscape. They will learn to interpret data, develop digital strategies, and identify monetization opportunities to stay one step ahead of the competition,” says Mike Rielly, CEO, Berkeley Executive Education.
The faculty for the program includes Saikat Chaudhuri, Faculty Director of the Management, Entrepreneurship, & Technology (M.E.T.) Program and Grimes M.E.T. Chancellor's Chair, Teaching Professor in the Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Management of Organizations groups at Berkeley Haas, and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering; and Abhishek Nagaraj, Assistant Professor in the Management and Organizations (MORS) and Entrepreneurship & Innovation groups at Berkeley Haas. Additional faculty will be featured on selected topics during the core modules.
The Berkeley CDO Program comprises three core modules of seven weeks each, followed by two electives of eight weeks each. Participants can choose electives that are in line with their career goals. The program concludes with a three-day, in-person conference and graduation event at the prestigious Berkeley campus in California.
“The role of a CDO is constantly evolving. Those in digital leadership positions will find that upskilling themselves to keep pace with rapid digital progress will help elevate their careers and position their companies for success. Emeritus is delighted to partner with Berkeley Executive Education in helping CDOs digitally transform their organizations,” says Lisa Rohrer, Head of University Partnerships at Emeritus.
The eleven-month program is priced at US$28,000, which includes all program materials, teaching fees, and access to online coursework. The program starts on June 30, 2021 and is open for enrollment through Emeritus. For more information about the program, visit the program page or Emeritus' website.
